Eat Fat to Lose Fat. What? 04/21/2011
I must say it. LOW FAT PRODUCTS ARE BAD FOR YOU! If you see something labeled "Fat Free" you should read it as "ADDED SUGAR AND STARCH". Sugar and starch may be the underlying culprit for seemingly uncontrollable weight gain. Contrary to popular belief fat in our diets does not make us fat. This is a mistake and a misconception created by heart disease research decades ago. Unfortunately it has created a fat-phobia that seems to last and last. The fat in our diets is purposeful, it provides satiation so we stop eating when we've had enough, it lubricates our skin hair and nails, it helps our brains to function, and most importantly it regulates fat storage. If there's anything in your regular diet that should be cut back on let it be the sugar! DO NOT add sugar to anything you eat. If you must have sweets have honey or fruit instead. Avoid bottled fruit juice, fresh squeezed or pressed juices are better. Everything is okay in moderation, but certain foods like those wrapped in cellophane packages (i.e. twinkies) or deep fried (i.e. french fries) are not going to do your body good. Junk food should be replaced by healthier alternatives. Train yourself to enjoy healthier snacks and treat yourself to frequent eating rather than deprivation. Frequent eating keeps moods and thoughts about food at a healthier constant so you're less likely for a future binge. What kind of fats are best to include in your diet? My favorites: all kinds of Nuts, Coconut Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil, Olive Oil, and Flax Seeds If you replaced one white starchy carb in your diet (say the bread on your sandwich) with a tablespoon of healthy oils instead you'd see a difference in just a week. Think salad for lunch with lean protein, lots of fibrous vegetables, lemon juice and olive oil dressing. yum! CommentsLeave a Reply |
